Viola Breithaupt Zabransky

Vi was born to William and Frieda (Weinken) Breithaupt on April 16, 1924, in the Wildwood Community, near Weimar, Texas. Vi had eleven brothers and sisters to whom she was known as Sissy. As a child, she attended the Wildwood School and assisted her parents on the farm.

On November 1, 1947 she married the love of her life George James Zabransky at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Houston, Texas by Father Deiffebach.

Vi was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Nurturing her family brought her the utmost joy. She enjoyed music, playing dominoes and most of all loved to dance. She worked many years for Spring Branch ISD and made many friends along the way. During her retirement she enjoyed traveling with George, taking care of her grandkids and dancing with long time friends at the SPJST Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and all her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her three children Mike Zabransky (wife Ruth), Sandy Ashworth (husband Bill), Debbie Thurmond (husband Mark); grandchildren Blake, Courtney, Cody, Matt, Drew and Dane; great-grandchildren Baxton, Ava and Lily.

We will miss her immensely but are confident that she is filled with joy and at peace in her Heavenly Father’s home.

Family will receive friends on Wed., Jan. 31, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in The Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Fwy., Houston 77024. Funeral mass will be conducted on Thurs., Feb. 1, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell St., Houston 77007 with the graveside service at 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Dr., Houston 77055.
