Vicente was a true WW Ii soldier
He was a role model for us Vietnsm Veterans
We followed him around like a big brother
Vicente was an original member of the GATHERING OF EAGLES for the last 25 years
The G.O.E. is now going on 27 years of working with the community
Vicente and his wife Margarita were at all our G.O.E. Meetings and events
They were loved by all


Vicente  was a close friend of mine.  I visit with his daughter and sons regularly,  I loved him like a real brother.   Rest In Peace!

We are honored and blessed to have shared 18 years of friendship with Vincent and Margarita. We will cherish those memories and know that we are far better off for having been “adopted” into the family. Vincent was always quick to stand and greet with a great smile, hand shake and hug. 
Lisa-the care and love you poured into your parents is a gift beyond words. What a blessing you and your wonderful family are.

Mr. Moreno was an extra special speaker for our boys home school class on WWII. We first met Vincent 18 years ago at Lisa’s baby shower. I was new to the church and thought that a baby shower would be a great way to meet women. But before I could go into the room where the shower was I was eagerly greeted by Vincent and Don Rodger who volunteered to watch John who was an infant. Inside I met Lisa and Steve Rodger, Margarita Moreno, Marion Rodger and so many more. From that day on our families were bonded. Vincent referred to our boys as “my boys!”

Thank you for your sacrifice and our freedom 

You touched my life forever. Thankful and Grateful for you being in my life.

While Vincent and I were in Washington DC for his Honor Flight, we went to Arlington National Cemetery. Vincent had just placed a penny on Audie Murphy’s headstone, and we were walking back toward the busses. He was quiet for a couple minutes and then looked at me very seriously and said, “Why me?” Obliviously I asked, “What do you mean?” He went on to tell me how awful the fighting was in Burma. How close he came to being killed. The men he saw die around him. But not him. He survived. Why him? In that moment, I had no answer. I was just as baffled as him. We talked about God and His plan for Vincent, but neither of us had an answer and we eventually moved on, as soldiers do. Looking back on that conversation now, I have a better answer. Vincent survived for all of us. He had a unique way of bringing people together. Of building community. Of connecting. God chose Vincent for our sake and I’m so grateful for it. Grateful for the time that he spent with my family. For the people I never would have met if it weren’t for Vincent. Grateful for the short amount of time I got to spend with him. Grateful for Vincent Moreno.

Tomorrow we're going to Daddy's WWII bestie Mr Vincent Moreno funeral.  Mr Moreno was Daddy's Best friend. they met on their mission & never lost touch.  

His wife passed a few months ago & he declined soon there after of a Broken Heart !

His daughter Lisa & I have been very close after we met at Houston Rodeo for WWII Veterans night.

we would meet every year at the Rodeo!... she always took her Dad Mr. Moreno & I always took Daddy.

After Rodeo we would go to Wine Garden & have couple btls of Vino  as they mingled w other WWII Veterans.   

So Awesome & Beautiful  to see them enjoying their time to visit & share their experience in the Jungle.

I never met Mr. Moreno, however, I work with Mike at Byrd Interior and have heard many stories about him.  What a man, husband, father and grandfather he was.  Just from viewing the pictures, it's obvious family was very important to him.  He served our country to allow us all the freedom we now have.  What an honor it is to have learned about Mr. Moreno.  I will keep all of his family and friends in my prayers and hope comfort will come soon for everyone.

I will always remember when I loaded all the kids from my neighborhood to go see the parade that Vincent was Grand Marshall for. My kids, Courtney and Cameron, were so proud because they personally knew a celebrity! He will be truly missed by all. He was the epitome of what a truly great man should be. Our family knew the Moreno’s from church.

I did work at the May Center before my stroke and Vincent and Margarita were always there. They will be terribly missed! I loved them to dearly! Kerri Almendarez

Vincent was such a special, gentle man who lived life to the fullest and loved everyone. He was small in stature but huge in heart. When he would flit around in his blue jeans and white shirt I called him my “teeny bopper”. Thanks for your service to our Country, church and community. I will miss you always. Rest In Peace and enjoy your reunion with Margarita and Tobe.
