1924-2021
Narcissus Carameros, 96, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went home to
her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 12, 2021. She was born in Stigler, Oklahoma on
October 3, 1924, the youngest of six children, to Pearle Hall and Carl Lloyd Easterling. Her
family moved to Norman, Oklahoma after the Great Depression to be close to the University of
Oklahoma. After graduating from Norman High School, Narcissus attended the University where
she was a pharmacy major. It was there at a dance that she met her husband, George
Demitrius Carameros, Jr. who was in the Army Specialized Training Program(ASTP). They were
married three months before he was deployed to France in August 1944. As a “war bride”,
Narcissus moved to El Paso,Texas to live with her in laws while awaiting
George’s return. She and George began their life together in El Paso when he returned from the
war.
Narcissus was married for 67 years and leaves a heritage of love and devotion to her 5 children,
16 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren. She loved and supported her husband in his
career which took them from El Paso to Paris, France to Short Hills, NJ to Houston, Texas. Her
love of beauty and attention to detail was reflected in her homes and beautiful table settings for
holiday and family birthday dinners. She and George enjoyed traveling the world together.
Narcissus came to faith in Christ as a young girl. Her love of the Word of God grew through her
years at Bible Study Fellowship and Bethel Church. The joy of the Lord was her strength as she
loved her husband faithfully and raised her children in the knowledge of God.
Narcissus is survived by her children: Cecille Carameros Shannon and husband, George;
Cynthia Carameros Blevins; Cathy Carameros Patton and husband, David; Nancy Christiansen
Carameros; Carl Alan Carameros and wife, Lynne. “Mamo” will be missed by her grandchildren:
Valerie Shannon Tompson and husband, Matt; Michael Shannon and wife, Brooke; Chris
Shannon and wife, Lacey; Amy Blevins Heidmann and husband, John; Scott Blevins; Stacy
Patton Sims and husband, John; Candice Patton Corley and husband, Kenny; David Patton and
Fernanda Avila; Brittany Carameros LaFargue and husband, Russell; Courtney Carameros
Frank and husband, Mitchell; George Carameros IV and wife, Kendall; Jessica Carameros
Rensimer and husband, Andrew; Alan Carameros and wife, Kelly; Jared Carameros; Reid
Carameros; Phillip Carameros and wife, Allyson. She was blessed to live to see her 29 great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Demitrius Carameros Jr.,
her son, George Demetrios Carameros III and her son in law John Kollen Blevins. The family
wishes to thank Dr. Edward Rensimer, Gilma Gonzalez, and Lenny Lazo for their devoted and
loving care through the years, and Vitas Hospice for her end of life care.
Her life will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at Bethel Church, 825 Bering
