Bennie came from parents who were sharecroppers and knew what hard work was. He worked hard in the fields alongside his parents, brothers and sisters. When his son was diagnosed with cancer, he worked 2 jobs to provide for his family so his wife, Theresa, could stay by their son’s side. He did this for 4 years without complaint. He retired from Houston Lighting & Power after 42 years and was successful in life with only an 8th grade education. He had an unwavering work ethic.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and his son. He is survived by his wife, Theresa of 60 years, and daughters Michelle and Cheryl. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
