HOUSTON, TEXAS- Valerie Mimidoo Williams was born, February 14, 1988, in Houston, Texas to her loving parents Tunde Harry Williams, Sr. and Priscilla Williams. She was the middle child of five, Tunde Harry Williams, Jr., Fumilayo Williams, George A. Williams, Gregory Walter Williams, and the late Joel Elijah Williams.
Valerie was the definition of a “true friend.” Her heart was pure as gold and she carried and infectious smile that could light up any room. Valerie was a highly regarded basketball and volleyball player. She graduated high school at the height of 6’3”, and continued her education at Texas State University. She was also a faithful member of Lakewood Church.
Shortly after celebrating her 21rst birthday, Valerie suffered a broken femur June 28th, 2009. On July 10th, 2009 she was diagnosed with bone cancer, and began her first cycle of chemo-therapy. After a few cycles of chemo, she became a candidate for limb salvage surgery, which took place October 9th, 2009, with a follow up surgery October 22nd, 2009. After suffering an infection, and being put through a rigorous course of antibiotics, Valerie was release from the hospital November 22nd, 2009 totally cancer free.
In July of 2013, Valerie was admitted to the hospital with a severe migraine, which turned out to be an inoperable tumor. Throughout all the hospital treatments, being placed in ICU, and all the pain, Valerie never complained. She became a symbol of hope, strength and love for all who came to know her. Valerie remains a young heroine in the minds of everyone surrounding her during her courageous battle with cancer.
On October 21, 2015, after a courageous SIX YEAR BATTLE with cancer, Valerie Mimidoo Williams went to be with the Lord in her heavenly home. She will rest in the arms of the Lord.
