Born in Vinh Long, Vietnam on June 10, 1948, she was the daughter of Mr. Van Hai Nguyen and Mrs. Thi Ti Nguyen. Trina is survived by her brother Le Nguyen and sisters Thuy Idom, Tinh Vo, and Tuyetlan Nguyen and is predeceased by her siblings Kim Nguyen, Nghia Nguyen, Nhon Nguyen, and Huu Nguyen and her first husband, Alexander William (Bill) Flowers. With her first husband, she gave birth to and raised three daughters: Fronnie Flowers Valencia wife of Ricardo Valencia Sr., Polly Flowers wife of Matthew Selheimer, and Ronda Minyard wife of Mark Minyard, who each survive her. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Caius Selheimer, Isabella Selheimer, Avery Minyard, and Ellen Minyard.
In the 1970s, Trina and her family relocated from Vietnam to Houston, Texas, where she opened and ran multiple businesses. She later moved to Lugano, Switzerland in the 1990s with her husband, Martin Born, who also survives her, and later returned to Houston in her retirement to be closer to her sisters and daughters. Trina had a life-long love for flowers, cooking, and spending time with her sisters and family. A truly global individual, who spoke Vietnamese, English, and Italian fluently, she enjoyed traveling, the ocean, and especially the beauty of Cancun, Mexico’s beaches.
