Tomas Lorenzo Cruz (Tom), a beloved member of the Houston, Texas community, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the age of 40. Born on June 14, 1984, in Houston, Tom grew up in the Magnolia area, on 78th and Dayton Street, as the youngest of three children to Eglantina Guajardo. He graduated from Charles H. Milby High School on May 29, 2004, and later worked as a Court Clerk.
Tom had a passion for cooking, baking, muscle cars, and fishing. He enjoyed fishing with the Reel Recovery organization, where he embraced their motto, “Be well fish on!” He found great joy and camaraderie in their events.
Tom is survived by his loving mother, Eglantina Guajardo, father, Jose Lorenzo Cruz, brother Johnny Renteria and family, sister Gloria Renteria and family, along with 6 nieces and nephews and 1 great-niece.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Harris Health Ben Taub Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center for their exceptional care and compassion during Tom's final days. They also extend their thanks to the Reel Recovery organization for providing Tom with meaningful experiences throughout his fight with cancer.
Tom's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be dearly missed.
