Timothy Robert Bonney, 47 years of age, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Houston Methodist West Hospital after suffering sudden cardiac arrest in his home. Born at Fort Belvoir in Arlington, Fairfax County, Virginia on August 11, 1969, he was the son of Anita Louise (Coop) Bonney and the late Ray Conrad Bonney.
Tim grew up as part of an Army family, living in Virginia, Germany, Oregon, and New York before settling in Texas. He attended University of Texas, Arlington, where he played rugby when he wasn’t studying.
Tim is best known to his friends and family as the man who brought love and laughter into their lives and will be remembered above all for his big heart. Tim forged enduring friendships, from his early days with other Army brats, to his co-workers at any number of jobs. These friendships expanded with his on-line presence, as he entertained the world with his comedic tales – particularly of marauding neighborhood raccoons – and moderated various communities. Above all else was his love of family (human and animal), from the soon-to-be-adopted-by-The-Bonneys-and-thus-no-longer-stray cats, to his dedicated support and care for his mother. The world is a better place for Tim’s too-short life.
Tim is survived by his mother and his sister Angela Lynn (partner Katherine Trauth) Bonney, both of Houston, TX.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 27, from 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. at the Brookside Cypress-Creek Funeral Home, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095. As Tim would have wanted it to be, guests are invited to wear Hawaiian-style or loud print shirts. His internment will be arranged at a later date.
The family requests donations in lieu of flowers. Preferences are either Special Pals, a local, nonprofit no-kill animal shelter which aims to make a measurable and sustainable difference in the Greater Houston community, www.specialpalsshelter.org, or the United Service Organizations (USO), www.uso.org.
