Tommie Bosworth passed away March 20, 2018, at the age of 90. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Thomson (Mike); her sons, Paul Bosworth (Carol) and David Bosworth (Claudia); her grandchildren Stefanie Esposito, George Newton, Anthony Bosworth, Ian Newton, Ashleigh Diacogiannis, and Chelsea Bosworth; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, James (“Russ”) Bosworth and her sister, Mary Jeannette Vezey.
On August 4, 1927, Tommie was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas. At the age of 9, she moved with her family to Houston. She attended Lanier Junior High School and Lamar High School and worked at the Texas Company (“Texaco”). She married Russ, a chemical engineer; and, as she raised her family, devoted time to volunteer activities associated with the Girl Scouts, Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hobby Area Ministries, and the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences. She worked at Memorial Hospital Southeast as the manager of admissions.
Her family loved her deeply and treasured her for her intelligence, wisdom, humor, kindness, and generosity. A Memorial Service will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home (12800 Westheimer Rd. 77077) on Saturday, March 31, at 10 am following a visitation that will begin at 9 am.
