Dr. Susan Lee Thomas, D.V.M.

Dr. Susan Lee Thomas of Richards, Texas left her earthly home in the early evening hours of June 2, 2022. Susan was born on February 2, 1955 in Houston, Texas to Ruth Warman and Jewell “Jug” Thomas. She grew up in the Westbury area of Houston, graduated from Westbury High School in 1973 and with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M in 1980.

In 1982, she opened the doors of Cypresswood Animal Clinic in Spring, Texas where she dedicated the next 40 years of her life, lovingly taking care of her patients, large and small, as well as her clients. She also carried on her family’s tradition of ranching until the day she passed, raising cattle, horses, goats, and donkeys.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents, one sister Mary Catherine Thomas and one brother Jewell Dale Thomas. She is survived by one sister, Carolyn Thomas Pullen of Oklahoma City, OK, one nephew, Jonathan Thomas of Houston, TX and two nieces Christina Krell of Lufkin, TX and Cynthia Ann Winder of Oklahoma City, OK.

Susan’s animals, both her patients and her own, were her passion and life’s work. Those who called her a neighbor or friend knew she would never hesitate to lend a helping hand. She was highly regarded by all who knew her and was loved dearly by her family. She is now at peace.

A visitation for Susan will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A committal service will occur Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
