On March 16, 2021, Susan Jane Jacobs was called by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to come home at the age of 70. As wonderful a place as heaven is, it is even better now. Sue was the most loving, sincere, precious person one could ever hope to know. She had a special place in her heart for those who were down on their luck. She would cry when she would see TV ads about the homeless or abused and abandoned animals. Sue was born in Flint, Michigan on July 8, 1950 to parents Del and Elmina Jacobs. Sue loved Michigan outdoors. She hunted, fished, speed skated, snowmobiled and anything else that had to do with snow and cold weather. Eventually, at the invitation of her sister, Darlene, Sue moved to Houston. Ultimately, she became a live in caretaker for an elderly dementia patient. Sue’s willingness to help this lady was a demonstration of her beautiful character. In February 2001, Sue met her loving partner, friend and companion, John Murrell. John described her as the best thing that ever happened to him and it was a relationship that lasted until her journey to her eternal home . In July 2015, Sue was diagnosed with a deadly form of brain cancer that required surgery, radiation and chemo. She survived 51/2 years with a disease most people succumb to in 12 to 14 months with full treatment. She remained the same beautiful person and trooper as she lived with her disease, never wasting time in pity parties because of her condition. She remained in remission but ultimately succumbed to pneumonia in March 2021. A special thanks to her team of Doctors at UT Health Nuerosciences, especially Dr. Sigmund Hsu, Dr. Dong Kim and Dr. Angel Blanco. Sue was lovingly cared for in her last months by Avatar Home Health, her caregivers, Emma and Margaret. Her heavenly Father sent his angels to escort her to Himself very peacefully. “Near, far, wherever you are, I believe that the heart does go on.” (From the movie Titantic) Sue has a heart that does go on, and her love for us and our love for her will never cease.
