Stanley Lynn Butler, 78, passed away at his home in Trinity, Texas on April 2, 2022 with his family by his side. Stanley was born on August 15, 1943, in Houston, Texas to parents Horace Lincoln Butler and Dorothy Louise Skeen.
Stanley graduated from Deer Park High School in Deer Park, Texas and studied at San Jacinto Jr. College. Stanley attended the Houston Police Academy in 1961 and graduated in Class #30. He served with the Houston Police Department for 26 years. He later worked various positions at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital for 15 years. Stanley and his wife retired to Trinity County in 2002 and lived there until his death.
Stanley excelled in all sports but as an adult became a competitive amateur golfer. He enjoyed many great friends that joined him on the golf course.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Stanley is survived by Trudy Butler his wife of 32 years, sisters, Bobbie Presswood and Marion Mathis. Daughters, Tammy Bockholt and husband, Myron, Terri Young, Cheyenne Olexy and husband, Michael, Kimberly Butler, Cindy Hill and husband, Robb and Amie Barton. Step-daughters, Kimberly Jewell, Janet Foster and Cheryl Prellop. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and many lifetime friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Waltrip Funeral Directors. Funeral services will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the RL Waltrip Venue. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Garden of Memories.
