Sotero Rivera Jr., age 71, of Houston, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at home surrounded by love ones. Sotero was born in Kingsville, Texas and lived most his life in Houston Texas. Sotero was the most loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather he is survived by his wife of 56 years Maria Rivera daughter Vicenta Mendoza her 4 children & 5 grandchildren. Son Hilario Rivera his 7 children & 8 grandchildren, daughter Julia Cortez her 3 children & 4 grandchildren and son Michael Rivera his 7 children & 12 grandchildren. Sisters Rachel Horelka , Herminia Wallace and brother Valente Rivera and his faithful dog, Diego. Preceded in death by parents Sotero Rivera Sr. & Sarita Montalvo and Daugter Palmira Rivera.
Sotero was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, that loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all he knew.
A visitation for Sotero will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 NAVIGATION BLVD, HOUSTON, TX 77003. A rosary service will occur Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, 2516 NAVIGATION BLVD, HOUSTON, TX 77003. A visitation will occur Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM, 2516 NAVIGATION BLVD, HOUSTON, TX 77003. A committal service will occur Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
