Shirley was born on March 25, 1943 in Athens, Georgia as the only child of Jesse Theron Bradley & Sara Nomie (Dooley) Bradley. She graduated from Athens High School in 1960 and from the University of Georgia with a BA in Business in 1964.
While working at Sears, Roebuck & Co. she met the late Chester Broussard, Jr. who was in town for business and was buying a pillow. He immediately asked her on a date and quickly became the love of her life. They were engaged just a few days after meeting and married in Athens on July 2nd, 1965.
They settled into family life in Houston, where she was a substitute teacher, the General Chairman of the St. Theresa Catholic School Home & School Association, and President of Lazybrook Civic Club for many years.
Shirley was a strong woman who persevered through many challenges, including health issues starting in her early 40s and Chester’s death just before she turned 50.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Broussard Yifrach, her son Chris Broussard and his wife Shawn, and five loving grandchildren Ben Yifrach, Nathan Yifrach, Lainey Broussard, Sam Yifrach & Johnny Broussard.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Nancy Fajardo for the loving care and attention given to Shirley.
