Sarah Mercier Ezell died on December 21, 2012, just one day after her 90th birthday. She was born in Corinth, Mississippi where she grew up on a dairy farm before her pioneering spirit led her to Houston, Texas after graduating from Mississippi State College for Women. Sarah began working for Humble Oil Company in Houston. She met her husband, Labron F. Ezell, Jr. and they were married for 61 years before his passing in 2008. They had three sons: Gary, Craig and Larry. Sarah and L. F. had a good, fulfilling life with many enjoyable experiences and travelled extensively. Sarah spent her life as a devoted Christian, housewife, school teacher, and volunteer. Her strong Christian strength came from the Lord as she worshipped for over 66 years at First Methodist Church. Sarah was an original member of the Adelphi Sunday School Class, she served on the church’s board, and volunteered for many church positions throughout her life time. Additionally, she was involved in her PEO chapter and was a 40+ year volunteer at The Methodist Hospital. Preceded in death by her husband, a sister and brother, Sarah is survived by her sons Gary and wife Norma Carroll, Craig and wife Sally, Larry and wife Elizabeth; granddaughters Rebecca, Emily, Sarah and Rachel; great grandson Duncan; one brother; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews residing in Mississippi and Texas. She especially appreciated the visits from her Mississippi nieces, Becky and Cathy, and the telephone calls from her Mississippi relatives. Following a private graveside service, a memorial service will be conducted on December 24, 2012 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon at First Methodist Church, 1320 Main Street, Houston, TX.
