Sandra Jane Davis passed away peacefully in Houston Texas on Monday July 3, 2023 surrounded by her children. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Wayne Davis, of 52 years and is survived by her three children, daughter Lisa Furey and husband Jim of Denver, Colorado, daughter Jane Wood and husband Joel of Houston, Texas and son Brad Davis and wife Tera of Wichita Falls, Texas. As well as, five grandchildren, Laura Furey and Colin Furey of Denver, Colorado, Jack Wood of Houston, Texas, and Will Davis and Cole Davis of Wichita Falls, Texas.
Born September 4, 1940, in Nashville, Arkansas as an only child to Dean and Ernestine Powers, she graduated from Henderson State Teachers College in 1961 with a degree in Education. Following graduation, she moved to Dallas, Texas and taught elementary school in the Dallas Public School system. It was there she met her husband, Wayne Davis, of Wichita Falls, Texas through a mutual teacher. They were married soon after on June 23, 1962.
As a doting mother, Sandra loved and raised her children, of whom she was abundantly proud, for the next 20 years. She then went back to school to get a masters in Education with a reading specialty. She also loved traveling with her husband Wayne on his business trips and visiting her children and grandchildren as much as possible. Sandra will be laid to rest next to her husband Wayne in a private family graveside service Saturday, July 8th in Decatur, Texas. In lieu of customary remembrances, any memorial
contributions may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
