Sandra attended Jacinto City Elementary School and Furr Jr./ Sr. High School where she graduated in 1968. She was an active member of Jacinto City Methodist Church, participating in youth programs and activities.
After graduating high school, Sandra pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin and began her teaching career. In August of 1977, Sandra completed her M.A. in Education and went on to serve both elementary and high school students for over 30 years in HISD and other area districts.
On Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 1996, Sandra married Bill Blakeney. They shared a beautiful home, travelled the world together, and cared for their dogs who they loved dearly.
Sandra is survived by her parents Gatling Clay and Wilma Maxine Garmany; brothers, Thomas Clay and Larry Wayne Garmany; nieces, Shari Fisher, Jennifer Lankford, Colleen Haddad, and Katie Garmany; nephew, Kyle Garmany along with a host of great nieces and nephews and family members that were the joy of her life.
Sandra faced many difficult challenges with her health during her lifetime and met these challenges with courage, hope and a fierce determination that inspired all who knew her. She will be missed greatly by her family and many friends.
A visitation will be held at the Advantage Howard Glendale Chapel 1015 Federal Road Houston, Texas 77015 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Advantage Howard Glendale Chapel 1015 Federal Road Houston, Texas 77015 on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 4:00pm.
The interment will be at the Houston National Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive Houston, Texas 77038 on Thursday, December 29, 2016 with a gate time of 9:00am in lane one.
