On Monday, the 15th of February 2021, Samuel Ayodeji Adedipe, loving husband and father of four children, passed away at the age of 67. Samuel was born on the 24th of February 1953, in Ifon Ose Local Government Ondo State, Nigeria, to Jacob and Abigail Adedipe. Samuel was the tenth of fourteen children by his parents.
He met his bride Caroline Olasunloye in Ifon during Christmas holiday in 1976 and they later married on the 27th of December 1980 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Ifon. Samuel and Caroline renewed their vows in September of 2019 in Canaan, Israel. Along with his wife, Samuel had four children: Samuel, Hellen, Emmanuel, and Victoria. He loved his children dearly and made all of his children feel as if they were his favorite.
Samuel began his education at Local Authority Primary School in Ifon, he then went to Trade Center in Owo, Ondo state to obtain a certificate in Painting and Décor. He then went for advanced training in his trade in Ijebu Ode in Ogun State. He then began a General Contracting business “M.O. Adedipe and Brothers.”
With the advice of his late Uncle Agangan he then moved to the United States of America to obtain higher education. In 1991, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Prairie View A&M University. In 1996, he obtained his Master’s degree in Counseling also from Prairie View A&M University. He used that degree and his passion for helping others to work for The Texas Youth Commission for 20 years where he counseled and mentored troubled youth.
As a child, Samuel attended St. Paul’s Anglican Church and at the age of 12 he dedicated his life to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and was baptized. While in Lagos, Nigeria, Samuel and Caroline attended The Apostolic Church. In 1987, after moving to the United States of America, Samuel and his family joined Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham, Texas. In 2016, Samuel and Caroline joined Dagunduro Yoruba Christian Fellowship. He traveled to the Holy land in September 2019 and he was baptized again in the Jordan River.
Samuel was not afraid of hard work and had an impeccable work ethic. While attending university he worked a job full time and part time at Chapell Hill Exxon from 1987-2011. He was a friend to many and had a nickname for everyone. He loved to tell jokes and had a calm and gentle spirit. During his spare time, he loved gardening and grew the vast majority of all the vegetables his family consumed. He enjoyed watching new stations such as CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and talking politics with friends. Church was a huge part of his life and he enjoyed serving within the Dagunduro Yoruba Christian Fellowship Church.
Samuel is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Adedipe and Abigail Duromike Adedipe; his three sisters, Oredola Ajayi, Ibinanda Adeyemi, and Olajumoke Adeyemi; and his two brothers, Olaniran Adedipe and Okeowo Adedipe. Samuel is survived by his loving wife, Caroline Oluremi Adedipe; his son, Samuel Adedayo Adedipe and his wife Jessica Michelle Adedipe; his daughter, Hellen Adenike Adedipe; his son, Emmanuel Abayomi Adedipe; his daughter, Victoria Adejoke Taiwo and her husband Adewale Adetokumbo Taiwo; two grandchildren, Olivia Adeola Taiwo and James Adedayo Adedipe. Five sisters and three brothers, Ugbanejoke Akinrogbe, Michael Sunday Femi Adedipe, Daniel Modupe Adedipe, Omodunbi Osuporu, Omobola Adefarati, Durojaiye Adedipe, Folake Ogungbemi and Morenike Gbadamoshi; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of his life is to be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 6th of March, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
