Pete was born on April 7, 1927 in Yoakum, Texas where he graduated from St. Joseph High School. In 1944 during World War II he became a midshipman at the Merchant Marine Academy serving as Assistant Engineer on multiple ships. After three years in the Merchant Marines, he enrolled at the University of Texas and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
In 1950, Pete was called back to the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was sent to Fort Riley, Kansas for basic training as well as Leadership and Officer Candidate School. As a Second Lieutenant he was assigned to Quartermaster Training Command at Fort Lee, Virginia where he served for two years at Post Headquarters. He was honorably discharged in 1953.
In September of 1953, Pete joined Marek Brothers Drywall Company in Houston eventually becoming the General Manager. In 1983 he became Corporate Vice-President of the Marek Family of Companies, retiring after 63 years of service.
Over the years Pete served as President of many organizations including the Drywall and Interior Systems Contractors Association, the Houston Insulation Contractors Association, and St. Rose of Lima Parish Council and Men’s Club. Pete was an active member of St. John Vianney Church, serving on the Finance Council and Men’s Club. His hobbies included golf and travel.
Pete was married to the former Patricia Marks. They have combined seven children, Anna (Peters) Hilbert, Dean, John and Alan Peters, Frederick III and Gregory Marks and Jane (Marks) White. They have six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy., Houston, TX 77079, on Sunday, July 31 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079, on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow the funeral mass at the church.
