My Mother treated everybody with compassion and respect, she had a hard life, but you would never know that, because she was such a loving Christian woman 🙏

Mom there are not enough words to describe the love and admiration I have for you.  I learned strength from you which in turn helped me get through my tough times.  I'm not sure I could have made it without you and your constant love and devotion.  It will be hard going on without you and I will especially miss our daily calls before I came to New Braunfels to help take care of you.  I will treasure those memories forever.  I am so thankful you were my Mom and I learned so much from you that will stay with me for the remainder of my life.  You are "My Heart"

Mom I will forever cherish you in my heart ❤️  You were always there for me and I will eternally be grateful. I could not have ever asked for a better mother or friend. You were my everything. I have so many fond memories with you.  The many many times we watched Doris Day movies, I Love Lucy, and The Golden Girls were unforgettable. Your laughter was contagious and could be heard throughout the entire house. Your Sunday dinners after church were my favorite and warmed my heart. I can only hope to be the cook you were someday. The famous tradition of “Christmas Eve Gift” brought so much fun to Christmas.  Speaking of Christmas Eve, the times with all the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids  at your house can never be replaced. Boy were those great times! Even though we didn’t have much we were never made to feel we went without. You gave so much of yourself with never a complaint. How fortunate were we to have you live with us for almost 16 years in New Braunfels.  It was an absolute pleasure and honor you being part of our family.  I am thankful for your wisdom and the many life lessons you shared. Rest In Peace my sweet mom. Love you forever💕

Meme... today I came in Garner State Park today and took this picture in memory of you.  So many trips to the Frio with you and I loved every trip. Thank you for taking us grandkids and now setting a tradition with my family.  This your shirt and hat that I will keep with me as a reminder of your love for camping. 

My wish is that every person could have a meme in their life! Now Louis, that would Make a Wonderful World! In the immortal words of Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!".

You were always there for all of my events, plays, games, etc. - thank you for your love and support.

As I sit here and try to do justice writing your eulogy, I find myself in awe of the woman you were during your time here with us. You hear the same words echoed because that’s exactly the woman, mother, and Meme you were: caring, thoughtful, loving and loved by everyone you knew. You touched so many lives. I will always be grateful for your door being open for us when we needed it and your pantry always stocked with oatmeal cream pies. You helped raise me and I appreciated my time under your roof more than you know. Only having 33 years with you was not enough. I only hope I can spend an eternity with you when I’m called Home. I miss you more than words can express. 

I was always amazed at Ms. Bowen’s strength and independence. Having been fortunate enough to be her neighbor for so many years, I was lucky enough to see her a lot. I was run off her front yard many times trying to help her with her landscaping. She would wave me off like only she could. With time we became family. When she moved it left a void for us but we always remembered her and spoke of her very fondly. We all have an angel in heaven now. A tough one at that. Rest In Peace Ms. Bowen we love you!

For those lucky enough to be close to her nothing else needs to be said. Words alone cannot explain the depth of who she was nor the strength that she gave to so many.  In the arms of my grandmother I found shelter from the storm that life can become, and the wisdom I needed to make it through. 

She took an ordinary life and made it an extraordinary one. For all the memories she blessed me with none are nearer to my heart than just sitting on the porch talking while the world passes by. Meme I still feel you here, and hear your words in every choice I make.

My Mom Loved The Beach , I Remember Going To Either Galveston Or Surfside One Time When I Was A Teen And The Blue Angels Were Practicing For An Air Show At Ellington Field  And Was Flying Over Us And Doing All Kind Of Air Stunts And Roll Overs, And I Got To Say It Was Super Cool And What A Great Memory. Oh And Christmas Time Was Always A Blast At  Our  Home On Roundstone Lane, Not To Mention  My Mom Loved Her Pina Coladas On Holidays Only, Plus Our Mom Could Cook A Feast On Thanksgiving,  Squash And Potatoes, Cauliflower And Cheese, And Who  Could Forget Her Sausage Dressing. Again I Will Miss You Dearly Mother Dear, Love You 

I remember all the many camping trips to Huntsville State Park  and Sylvan Beach back in the ‘60’s . Me, Sandra, Gayle, Peggy and Rhonda , Lawrence had some great times there

Meme there are no words for how much we all love you.  For me, I loved going to your Roundstone Ln house for the best cooking for the different holidays and having the best time. So many things have impacted me as an adult and mom to Haylee and Addison thanks to you.  I can say I’ve pretty much mastered “memes scrambled eggs”, but not yet “memes sweet tea”. Thank you for the countless trips to Garner State Park.  You would Place us  around your strategic packing and set out with your kids, then us grandkids. Love you big sweet meme 

I wrote this to mom in a book years ago. The book is titled “Love You Forever”. How fitting it was then and now. What a privilege and honor it was taking care of you Mom. I will always love you. You will forever be in my heart❤️


Ms. Bowen was the most amazing neighbor and friend. I was a stay at home mom with 2 young daughters. I had a some hard times emotionally,  and I was so grateful  for Ms. Bowen.  She was an amazing woman --one of the strongest women I have ever met!  Her words of wisdom, funny stories, gardening tips and just her being there, meant so much to me! It still does! 

My mom was a good mom, from the time I was a young child she would go out of her way to make sure we were happy , from the days at Garner State Park she would drive us up there with her four children set up camp and we would have the time of our life, my mom was a good mom, she was caring she was funny and she was loved as much as she loved, when I got older but still in school she was ok how I dressed or how long my hair was as long as I liked it so did she, when I started playing the drums she was ok with that as long as I wrapped it up soon as she got home from work, lol ... when I got married and had children she was a great MeMe to all her grandchildren. Mom I Love You very much and I will miss our little talks My Mom Was A Good Mom.

One of my last memories, forever cherished.  
I will always remember us watching the Astros together and how blessed I was to be able to watch the last game with you. Such a beautiful soul you were, until the very end, always with a smile and laugh. My sweet lady.

So thankful for this woman and all the laughs she gave to everyone around her. She is one of a kind. 

I miss and love you meme. Thank you for always being there for me. 

I can't believe meme is gone. I feel so lucky to have lived the past 15 years in the same house as her. She is truly one of a kind and the biggest role model. She was the strongest woman I have ever met and has supported me with everything I have ever done. From teaching me how to braid my hair or tie my shoes to sending me off to prom, attending my football games, and being home with me when I got sick. She has always been there for me every step of my life. I'm not sure how to act or what to do without her giving me her words of wisdom and support. Meme was more to me than a grandmother. She was another parent. As lucky as I feel to have had her in my life I am deeply full of sadness knowing she is no longer with us. I love you so so so much meme. Always and forever. 

Mother's Day a few years back at Granny Ds. It looked so good she asked me for a photo. Everyone knows how much she loved her sweets. I love you meme.
