Rosa was born to Antonio and Rosa Lamas on January 19, 1941 in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Houston Vocational Technical High School in 1959. She married Henry Alonzo Amar in 1963; they were married until his death in 1993. Together they raised 5 children: Enrique Amar, Jr., Robert Amar, Lucia Alanis, Miguel Amar, Ernest Amar. Rosa married Joseph C. Mire in 2003.
Rosa is survived by her husband, children, 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, her siblings: Alonzo Lamas, Tito Lamas, Leonarda Valdez; her daughters-in-law: Diana Amar, Angela Amar, Norma Amar, Suzanne Amar and her son-in-law Robert Alanis; and her sisters-in-law: Judy Mire, Tracy Knighton. She was preceded in death by Rev. Henry Alonzo Amar, Antonio and Rosa Lamas, and her siblings: Phillip, Antonio, Alonzo, Catherine, Benny, Henry, Hector, and Alfred.
Rosa started her career at National Cash Register Corporation in Downtown Houston when she was 18 years old. For the next 42 years, she went on to work as an executive secretary in the fields of oil and gas, law, and education throughout the State of Texas. After a short retirement, Rosa became the office manager at Dent Out, Inc. It was her joy to go to work every day where she shared Spanish proverbs and enjoyed countless conversations with customers. Away from the office, Rosa enjoyed taking in Broadway musicals, attending concerts, listening to her favorite music, acting silly, and having a vanilla ice cream cone or anything sweet. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
