Roque developed his skills as an electrician working alongside his grandfather who taught him how to fix anything and everything. He traveled to San Antonio for work and met his soon-to-be beloved wife, Estela Delgado, in 1964 at the coffee shop of the Granada Hotel. Not very long after this, they got married on October 9, 1964.
He moved to Houston with his family to start a new job and in a location where the water was abundant for him to fish, which he loved tremendously. Roque was very proud of having his own business, started in 1983 and called it HG Appliance located on Shepherd and West Montgomery Rd. He then moved his shop to a new location and renamed the business Airline Wholesale Appliance on Parker and Airline Dr., aka AW Appliance. Roque was mechanically inclined and gifted, anything he touched or seen he could fix and was admired by all. He was skilled and could repair, service and diagnose any HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, vehicle and appliance issues, and he was also a welder.
Roque was a great fisherman and could throw his line further than many! He loved taking his boat and fishing until dawn. He also loved driving everywhere and anywhere while listening to country oldies on 97.1. He loved telling stories about growing up in Laredo TX and, of course, fishing. Roque loved telling jokes and seeing peoples reaction to them. He was a dedicated Astros fan, and he also enjoyed reading the Sunday comics. Roque never took anything for granted and appreciated his family to the fullest. He always helped anyone in need and had a very big heart for others. Overall he was a Houston businessman, friend to many, grandfather, father of six kids, and loyal husband to his wife of 57 1/2 years. Roque, aka Rocky, took enormous pride in his work and relationships with many of his business associates and customers over the years. He enjoyed watching a good Western movie and eating sweetbread with coffee every morning.
Roque is preceded in death by his mother Concepcion Huerta and father Pablo Garcia Sr., sister Aurora Pequeno and brother Pablo Garcia Jr., sister-in-law Lupe Garcia and grandson Joshua.
He is survived by his wife Estela Delgado Garcia, brothers Ernesto Garcia, Miguel Garcia, Jesus Garcia, sister Alicia Cantu married to Santos Cantu, son Roque Garcia Jr. married to Debby Garcia, son Eduardo Garcia, son Hector Garcia, son Alejandro Garcia married to Maki Nakata, daughter Cecilia Ruiz married to Johnny Ruiz, daughter Kristina C.
