Ronald Ray Haynes was born May 21, 1958 in Conroe, Texas to Ola Mae Haynes. He was the youngest of five siblings.
The family moved from Conroe, Texas to Galveston, Texas in 1964. He was educated in the Galveston I.S.D. school system, where he graduated from Galveston Ball High School. Ron was a standout athlete and received an athletic scholarship to The University of Texas–El Paso. He would later transfer to Stephen F. Austin State University where he became an All-American Defensive Tackle. He returned to Houston after a short stent in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers and in the Canadian Football League.
On January 6, 1979 Ron was united in Holy Matrimony to Hazel Yvonne Harrison. To this union two daughters, ShaRonda Ranae and Shari Raeshel were born.
Ron would later become employed with the Houston Coca–Cola Bottling Company for 20+ years, until he began hemodialysis treatments due to kidney failure. In April of 2002, hemodialysis would become his life line where he gained a new family of friends for the next 20 years at the DaVita Northstar Dialysis Center.
Ron accepted Christ at an early age and attended Compton Memorial Church of God in Christ in Galveston, Texas under the leadership of Bishop R.E. Woodard Jr. He re-dedicated himself to the church in 1999, under the leadership of Reverend James McLaughlin at Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Houston, Texas. Ron was a faithful servant and would go on to hold many roles including: Member of the Steward Board, Finance Committee, and church choir.
In June of 2011, Ron became one of the founding members of The Greater Shekinah Glory Church, under the leadership of Pastor Eddie L. Everline Jr. He was a dedicated member of this Ministry and in February of 2023, Ron would go on to become ordained as an Elder in the church.
Ron will be remembered for his love of sports, his church, but most importantly for the love he had for his three girls; ShaRonda, Shari and Avery.
He is preceded in death by his Mother Ola Mae Baziel, brother Son Campbell Lee Jr., sister Thelma Teneyck, maternal grandmother Vera Lee Demmings and uncle William Demmings.
His transition is mourned by his wife of 44 years Hazel, two daughters ShaRonda Hamilton (Wesley) and Shari, grand-daughter Avery Hamilton, all of Houston, Texas; brothers Dolphus Lee (Barbara) of Dickinson, Texas and James Lee (LaShawn) of LaMarque, Texas; mother-in-law Madie Harrison of Houston, Texas; aunts Lynda King (Isaac) of Galveston, Texas and Glynda Harris of Conroe, Texas; brothers-in-law Harold Harrison of Houston, Texas and Terry Harrison (Gail) of Richlands, North Carolina; sisters-in-law Patricia Harrison, Genevia Harrison and Nicola Stanley, all of Houston, Texas; god-son Michael Dison of Los Angeles, California, god-daughters Neea Maleak Lofton and Natasha Jones, both of Houston, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends.
