Roger was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to parents David and Sidwina Wildhaber, and spent his early years in the city he loved.
Roger honorably served in the United States Coast Guard and later graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Business Administration.
He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Martini, and had four children. They were married for 31 years until Bettys passing in 1991. Roger and his family moved to Houston in 1973, which became his home for the next 50 years.
He worked for Anheuser-Busch and Shell Oil before his entrepreneurial spirit took over and Roger started his first business. Roger owned several different businesses before finishing his career with check cashing stores.
He was a member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus as well as St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, Roger Wildhaber was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Wildhaber; son, Mark Wildhaber; and sister, Judith Baumeyer.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Peggy Wildhaber; daughters, Jayne Harvey, husband Rick, Lisa Drum, husband Greg, Jill Dicks; daughter-in-law, Michelle Wildhaber; grandchildren, Chase Harvey, wife Nikki, Blake Harvey, wife Lindsey, Wilson Wildhaber, Marshall Drum, Dylan Drum, fiancée Alexandria Milstead, and Madison Dicks; great-grandchildren, Carter Wildhaber, Charlotte Harvey; step-sons, Chris Brandt, wife Michaela, Robert Brandt, wife Vicky; step-daughter, Marianne Domec; numerous step-grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ervin Baumeyer; nieces, Lauri Kay, husband Bernie, Amy Baumeyer; nephew, Bill Baumeyer, wife Gabrielle.
The family would like to thank Gabriel Oladimeji, CNA, with Houston Hospice, personal caregiver Anne Ikpo, and Pastor, Rev. Joseph Ho of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Richmond, Texas.
Roger was an adoring husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, uncle and friend to many. His passion for life will live on with the legacy he leaves behind and Roger will be missed by all that knew him.
A funeral service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 3rd of March, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Rev. Joseph Ho is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
The family will gather for a private Rite of Committal at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
