Roger Dale Bockelman, a Spring Texas area resident, was born to William & Ella Bockelman on 28 November 1936 in Jansen, Nebraska. He was met at the gates of Heaven by his parents, his sister Doris “Corky” Beu and his beloved pets, Buddy, Beau & Dusky on 25 November 2017.
Roger was in the Army for 23 years, all of which was as a Military Police Officer. Above all, he loved his family, camping, cars & woodworking. He was an avid crossword player – the best in the west – and loved to snack on anything sweet, especially Reese’s cups. Any time spent teaching one of us something, building with his hands or just sitting playing cards at the kitchen or camper table, was time well spent. He was a loving, caring and kind husband and the best father and grandfather on earth.
Roger leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Renate, sister Lois Vorderstrasse, brother Mike Bockelman, his children, Annette Boyd, Patrick Bockelman, Dominique Madden and Pamela Pfeiffer. Also left behind are six grandkids William, Anthony, Roger, Yolanda, Andrew and Peter as well as one great granddaughter, Valentina.
Viewing & visitation will be from 11:45 am till 12:15 pm at the American Heritage Funeral Home at 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive. Roger will be laid to rest on Wednesday, 29 November 2017 at 12:15 pm. His final resting place, with full military honors, will be at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive. Services are closed to closest family and friends of the family. There will be no reception to follow.
Thank you for your love, comfort and support. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to kindly request a donation be made to the charity of your choice.
