He was born on September 18, 1949 in Edna, TX to Adela Santellana Pena and the late Richard Pena.
Roy graduated from Jeff Davis high school. He worked many jobs starting at a very young age to help support his loving family, whom he cared so deeply for. He retired from The University of Texas-Houston Health Science Center After 20 years.
Roy had a passion for collecting antiques and restoring classic cars and trucks. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing the traditional thanksgiving football games, playing cards, fishing, hunting, attending sporting events, and car shows. He had such an amazing smile and great laugh.
He loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. He held the greatest unconditional love for his children and grandchildren. He was the best dad and the best “popo” that anyone could have asked for. He will be missed dearly but never forgotten. Memories of him will always be cherished.
Roy is survived by his mother, Adela Pena, children, Melissa Pena and Roy Pena Jr, grandchildren, Lauren Balderas, Roy Pena III, Andrew Pena, and Briana Pena. Siblings, Gloria Mungia (Santos), Richard Pena, Tony Pena, Mario Pena, Sylvia Moody, Johnny Pena (Brenda) and David Pena (Susie), Stephanie Pena, Marian Pena, Kenneth Pena (Amanda), Joseph Pena (Ramona). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his father Richard Pena, sister Lucila Pena Hernandez, uncle Jose Santellana ”T.J”, nephews, Jerimiah Pena and Michael Vincent Pena.
A private visitation was held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 for family and close friends. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 9am-9pm with a Rosary to begin at 7:30pm. Funeral Service will be on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 11am in the Main Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home with interment to follow.
