Bob was born in Caracas, Venezuela as a dual citizen of Venezuela and the United States. Bob grew up overseas, visiting family in the United States. Summers were spent at their cabin in Colorado or at camp in the Ozarks. After graduating from Westchester High School, he attended Texas Christian University and then went on to Thunderbird School of Global Management, in Phoenix, Arizona, where he obtained his MBA in International Business. Bob married the love of his life and best friend, Margaret Stayton Meyer, in 1978.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Bob joined Exxon and stayed with the company for over 42 years. During his time at ExxonMobil, Bob spent his career working in various jobs including: Purchasing; Procurement; Contracts; and Implementations. This led him later in his career to travel across the globe. Bob visited six of the world’s seven continents, skipping only Antarctica.
Bob loved to golf and travel, but his primary love was of his family. Following retirement, Bob’s greatest joy was spending time and playing with his wonderful grandchildren. Bob will be remembered for his unconditional love, faith, smile, and laughter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Margaret Stayton Meyer; his son, Robert Alan Meyer, Jr; his daughter Melissa Meyer Fletcher and husband Ryan; grandchildren Luke, Lauren, and Blake Fletcher; brothers Dennis Meyer, Jr and Richard Meyer; nieces and nephew, Alexis, Jenna, and Max Meyer. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Wanita Meyer. The family will be having a private service to celebrate Bob’s life.
