He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Della McClung, siblings H.B. McClung, Jr., Mozelle Lewellyn, and daughter Elissa Marie McClung.
He is survived by Elissa, his wife of sixty-three years, sons John D. and Mark W. McClung and numerous nephews and nieces.
Born on November 4, 1932 in Waco, Texas, the family moved when Bob was 4; living in Houston, then Beaumont, finally settling in Houston before Bob entered school. He graduated from Reagan High School in the class of 1951. In 1952 he entered the U.S. Marine Corp and served in Korea entering the reserves in 1954. In 1955 Bob married his beloved Elissa. He began a thirty-seven and a half year career with Humble Oil & Refining Co. which later became Exxon Co., USA. He retired in 1993. Bob was a former member of St. Mark’s and St. Stephen’s United Methodist Churches. At the time of his death, he was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the Logos Sunday School Class. He served as an usher for many years.
A visitation for Bob will be held Monday, September 17, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pat H. Foley & Company, 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, Texas 77018. A funeral service will be Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Houston, 1320 Main St, Houston, Texas 77002, with a committal service to follow at 11:30 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023.
