Mr. Robert Rodriguez Flores Sr.

Robert R. Flores, Sr. age 93, of Houston, Texas passed away on December 30, 2023. Robert was born to Antonio and Roberta Flores in Houston, Texas on July 8, 1930. He was the last surviving child born to his parents.

Robert was raised in Magnolia Park where he graduated from Milby High School in Houston Magnolia area and met his wife and mother of their children, Marie Quiroz at Ingrando Park. Robert and Marie raised their family in the East End where they were very active in the community. Robert was involved with Little League for many years, becoming the first of 4 generations to participate with the East End Little League. He spearheaded the opportunity for an East End Little League team coached by his son and grandson, to travel and play at the home of Little League International and the Little league World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He considers this to be one of his proudest achievements, providing kids from second ward a chance to experience the opportunity of a lifetime.

Robert was active with the fraternal organization Woodmen of the World and was a lifetime member of the Bishop Byrne Council of the Knights of Columbus. Additionally, he was a past member of the Young at Heart Club at St. Patrick’s Church and a founding member of “The Oldtimers Club” which focused on raising funds for scholarships. Robert was an avid golfer and enjoyed following sports, especially the Houston Astros. Robert enjoyed a long retirement following a productive career with Harris County.

Robert spent his final years at The Reserve Assisted Living in Pasadena, Texas where he was known to be very social and a serious domino player.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife Marie, Infant daughter Linda, adult daughter Linda Maldonado and son, Robert, Jr. He is survived by his daughter Debra Wade and son-in-law Timothy and daughter-in-law Luann Flores, grandchildren Candice Wade, Michael Martinez, Monica Orozco and Michael Flores, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, friends and relatives.

A visitation for Robert will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 10:00 am until 12 pm noon at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo Navigation, 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, Texas, followed by a chapel service at 12 pm noon Interment will be immediately afterward at the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston.

Pallbearers are Grandsons Micheal Martinez & Michael Flores with Great grandchildren Joey Orozco, Lillianna Martinez, Michael Martinez II and Julian Martinez.
