I have only found out about Bobs passing and feel quite a loss of such a great man.  Bob was generous, kind, caring and gave all of himself to the life he lived.  I was privileged to know Caroline and some of his children over the years.  What you gave to Brain, myself and our kids is unforgettable.  You shall never be forgotten.  Love to the family!

I joined RJBA as a summer student back in 1972 to be employed after graduation for my first job.
A large man, full of enthusiasm and motivation. A pioneer in his field yet a very polite and kind employer who had a lot to give to his people.
It was though RJBA  that I met all the nice and interesting coleagues and my life became more interesting.
Now in Greece, still in pipelines,remembering Bob,my thoughts go back to  him and to those days that he made so good for everyone.
Rest in peace Bob.

I had the pleasure of spending time with Bob and Caroline, through a friend, last year on two occasions. I was regaled with stories of Bob's exploits which I regard as truly impressive. Bob continued to demonstrate what appears to be his ebullient optimism and he  had a twinkle in his eye. So wonderful to see that Bob probably  truly enjoyed his life. May Bob rest in peace and many condolences  to Caroline and Bob's children and grandchildren.


My first job after graduating from Texas A&M was with RJ Brown & Associates in Rijswijk, Netherlands in 1974. I met Bob in Houston for the interview and he dazzled me with pipeline related programs that was written for the HP 45 programmable calculator. I was quite impressed and I was sold on joining the firm. He was a good engineer and a fantastic salesman. I later joined the company in Houston and he gave my family a ride on his airplane to Galveston and back. He was good pilot and a good friend. We will miss you Bob. RIP. My condolences to Carolyn and the rest of his family.

I met Bob at a Mississippi River crossing at Happy Jack, LA in August 1958 when he was with Tennessee Gas.  I next saw Bob in December 1958 when I returned to my home office from London and discovered that Bob was now My Boss. we worked together for a couple of years and then went our separate ways.  We kept in loose touch through the 60's and early 70's.  in1978, Bob convinced me to come to Holland.  We got along well, I think because we were both Aquarians and both thought "out of the box".  He was one of the friendliest people I have ever met--He would always stop to chat when he passed my office, or any other office in which there was someone.

My first job in the offshore pipeline industry was with RJBrown & Associates in Rotterdam (1973). The short sleeved Engineer as he was called at the time as I remember. I am sending my condolences to his wife and family and wish them well.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bob when I worked for Technip. He was always so full of life, smiling and had time to chat and ask about your day.  When I mentioned that my husband loved flying he took him flying a few times on his impressive plane. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

My wife Beth and I had the great pleasure of being married on Bob's plane. Bob was the first of my friends to point out that I really should marry Beth and insisted that the ceremony be conducted in flight.  Who could ever say no to Bob. He will be greatly missed.

First, my sincere condolences to family. Though I only knew Bob Brown through working with him, I feel a personal loss, so I can well imagine how that must be amplified for his family. Yvonne, my wife, who worked at Bob's original company for more than two years, joins me in sending her own condolences. 
My first job out of engineering college in 1972 was with R.J. Brown & Associates in Rotterdam. After I had put in a few nervous and somewhat daunting weeks on the job, Bob called all the engineers to a special meeting. At that time, all the engineers could fit comfortably into one small meeting room. His message was clear and simple: there would be no place in his engineering company for anybody who did not strive to meet his high standards.  I knew then that I was being challenged where it mattered most to meengineeringand that this was a man whose challenge was well worth accepting. 
Over the years that followed I was lucky to benefit from Bob's now legendary and unique combination of qualities: seemingly super-human energy; infectious, unflagging enthusiasm; he was the proverbial Great Communicatorextraordinarily agile of mind, cordial, cheerful, and wittyhis jokes alone would loosen up the stiffest of engineers or liven up the stodgiest meeting; he was a highly inspiring pioneer in engineering, moving lightning fast from whiteboard and calculation sheet to steelthe quintessential tryer and doer. Around 1984, Bob would call me from scattered time zones all over the world (not always in sync with my Houston office hours!), bubbling over with an enthusiastic effusion of ideas for our fantastic new Mackintosh 512 kB computer. Bob was one of the first to see that desktop computers would revolutionize engineering work. 
Bob was also caring, for example when he sent me home on an all-expenses-paid trip to be with my family when my dad passed.
Thank you, Bob, for everything.

Bob was my first boss when I entered oil and gas industry, via  Kvaerner R. J Brown, Inc.
I enjoyed his great sense of humor, very kind personality. And I highly respect his pipeline engineering expertise as a pioneer in offshore industry. 

I particularly remember when he flew us with his 8 seater plane to the Matagorda pipeline assembly site, and how he flew up and down so we can see the entire pipeline  length on the beach

I was privileged to work under Bob's guidance for over 40 years. Bob's optimism, willingness to try out new ideas, perseverance under difficult conditions, his sense of humor and generosity made him a great mentor. I will miss him greatly. Bob, rest in peace. You will be remembered for all the good-times.

Bob Brown was one of  my first customers at Hedrick Beechcraft at Hobby Airport. He purchased a new 58 Baron and flew it to Europe where he had an office. He loved flying and that quite a feat for him. He was a great person and will be missed but never forgotten. J. Michael Lea

I had the privilage and the great pleasure of meeting and start working with Bob in 1972 in his newly formed R.J.Brown & Associates company in the Netherlands. With his passing away, offshore pipeline engineering school lost a great pioneering leader with vision and the courage to challange all the difficulties and the unkonwns of this newly born industry.

Dear Bob, R.I.P., you will always be remembered and greatly missed as an offshore pipeline engineering icon, a fantastic boss, and a colleague too, with great sense of humor, and a very good friend.
