Robert S. "Steve" Bailey passed away on May 15, 2018, at his home in Sugar Land, Texas, surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 29, 1945 to Charles L. Bailey, Sr. and Gladys Talley Bailey in Knoxville, Tennessee. Steve grew up in Knoxville and graduated from The University of Tennessee in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He also obtained his Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University in 1971. He was employed initially by Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan after graduating college, ultimately retiring in 2002 after 35 years with various divisions within what ultimately came to be known as Schlumberger. Steve was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land, Texas.
Steve was an avid reader, a die hard Tennessee Volunteers football and basketball fan and would rather have spent his time hiking in the Smoky Mountains over anything else.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Needham Bailey. Children: Michael S. Bailey and wife, Jessica, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Christine Bailey Oliver and husband, Daniel, of Richmond, Texas. Grandchildren: Amethyst Archer, Brayton Bailey and Beckett Bailey of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Jaxson Oliver of Richmond, Texas.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home at 10:00 o'clock in the morning, to be immediately followed by a graveside Committal Service. We welcome guests to join us for a Reception following the Committal Service at the Memorial Oaks Reception room.
