Richard “Dick” Goodwin of Cypress, Texas passed away on January 3, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Joseph and Mildred (Moritz) Goodwin. He and his loving wife Nan (Kuehl) of twenty three years eloped to Galveston Texas.
After graduating from high school in Roanoke, IL in 1955, he served in the Navy and the Air Force. Dick worked as an Industrial Engineer for Cameron Iron Works for over 25 years. In retirement he worked at 4 CS.
Dick was preceded in death by his mother, step father Clete Rarick, his sister Carol Hamilton, two grandchildren Travis Weatherford and Jason Goodin, and one great-grandchild Jacob Weatherford. He is survived by his wife, seven children, Susan Dobbs, Connie Weatherford, Kathleen (Scott) Goodin, Leanna (Rick) Brassell, Tony Kuehl, Roger (Kimberly) Goodwin, Patrick Goodwin, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by three brothers, Paul Goodwin, Robert(Lynn) Goodwin, Donnie (Nancy) Rarick and two sisters Judy (Bill) McCaskey and Diane (Mike) Orr.
Dick was a wonderful and loving man that enjoyed softball in his earlier years and played with “The Cameron Wild Bunch”. Dick also enjoyed playing golf, watching birds and was an avid reader. Dick’s family would like for you to join them at his visitation on January 7, 2013 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home from 6-8 P.M. A service of celebration for his life will be Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home at 3:00 P.M. Concluding services Dick will be laid to rest at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
