Renee Rust Gehm passed from this world on Saturday, the 23rd of March, 2024. She was born the youngest of three sisters in Kerrville, Texas on the 14th of November 1951, to parents Patricia and Alfred Rust. She was 72 years of age.
A proud Texan, she was a descendant of the notable Rust Family of the Texas Hill County. The family followed her father, a Captain in the Army, as far as Hawaii before returning to settle in Austin. Renee was a 1969 graduate of McCallum High School. Following high school, she started her 40 year career in commercial lending which, in 1978, led her to new opportunities in Houston. She enjoyed her banking career and demonstrated her value through hard work and superb customer service. She enjoyed close relationships with her coworkers and is still fondly remembered by many who worked with her.
In Houston Renee met her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Gehm. Marrying in October of 1982, they have enjoyed 41 wonderful years together sharing a love of friends, design, art, fine food and travel. In recent years they also loved to spend cherished time with their beloved dogs at their beautiful mountain retreat outside of Asheville, NC.
Renee is preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law Jackie Diver; and sister-in-law MaryAnn Gehm. She is survived by her husband Jerry; sisters Linda Diver and Karen Rust; brother-in-law David Gehm; an extended family of nieces and nephews; many close friends; and her beloved dog Lucy.
