Rene Jose Saenz

Rene Jose Saenz, beloved husband, father, cousin, uncle and friend passed away on December 7, 2022 at the age of 84. Rene was a devoted Christian, a man of integrity, and had an immense passion for a sense of humor, which will be missed by all.

Rene was born in Mercedes, TX to Emma and Amado Saenz on December 10, 1937. After graduating Mercedes High School, Rene joined the National Guard and served for 11 years. He then received his bachelor's from Pan American University, followed by a Masters in Education from Sam Houston State. In 1972, Rene was recruited by the HISD as one of the first bilingual educators, accepting a position as Principal of Elliot Elementary in Houston, Texas. Raising his family in Houston, TX, Rene decided to make a career change and started his career at Allstate Insurance where he would continue to work for almost 30 years until his retirement.

Rene accepted the Lord as his savior at NW Memorial Baptist Church under Pastor Billy Crosby. He and his family found their home at Faith Church where they have been members for over 30 years. At Faith Church, Rene enjoyed being an usher and helping in any way he could.

Rene is survived by his loving wife Marta, sons Desi Rene and Diel Saenz, Sister Rosa Rodriquez (Rudy), brother Roland Saenz, and many nieces and nephews who love 'Uncle Rene'.

A visitation for Rene will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Brookside Funeral Home - Champions, 3410 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, TX 77068.

A funeral service will be held from 11:00AM-12:00PM, also at Brookside Funeral Home Champions 3410 Cypress Parkway, Houston, TX 77068.

A reception will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 1:00-3:00 PM, at Faith Church 7755 Fairbanks North Houston Road. Houston, TX 77040.
