Relda Gibson

Relda Gwynne Gibson, 75, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Relda was the first child of Jimmy and Ruelle Dickey. She married Dwane Gibson December 10th 1965. They would have celebrated 52 years this December.

Relda enjoyed singing and performing. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the choir of every church she was a member of and even would visit and sing in friend’s choirs. She had a passion for reading and learning. Rarely was she seen without a book, and often times she read multiple books simultaneously. For over 20 years She taught numerous children at Holub Middle School in Alief ISD and Sunday school at Canterbury United Methodist Church. Throughout her lifetime she was a member of numerous organizations including PTO’s, booster clubs, garden and civic clubs, and multiple church groups, including “The Methodist Women” even serving as president at least once. She impacted many people's lives spreading her positive advice. In her retirement she enjoyed spoiling her eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was everyone's "Nana".

She is survived by her loving husband Dwane Gibson, daughter Kimberly Gibson, sister Debbie Smith, brother, Frank Dickey and his wife Nancy, Uncle, Jim Wells and his wife Annette. She is also survived by eight grandchildren Davis Steel, Stephen Steel, Christina Gibson, James Kaleb Gibson, Arianna Davis, Kiowa Davis, Aram Davis and Michael Potts. She was preceded in death by her son James Michael Gibson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28th, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Advantage Funeral Home Chapel, 7010 Chetwood Dr. Houston, Texas 77081. A chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. at the Advantage Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at 1:00 P.M. at George Cemetery in George, Tx.
