Peggy Ann Peters, 68, passed away on June 17th after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Fort Worth. She attended Gulf Port Junior College, graduated from East Texas State University, and received her masters from SMU. She started her teaching career in Richardson ISD, then taught in Spring ISD until her retirement. Her early teaching was elementary students, but her calling was in teaching special needs children to overcome their difficulties.
She married her college sweetheart, Paul Peters, and they were planning their 46th Anniversary on June 26th. They originally lived in Plano, then transferred to Houston where she raised their two children, Chris and Joan Peters, while still teaching. One of Peggy’s greatest joys has been traveling to different destinations. It has been her pleasure of sharing her passion by including her grandchildren, Dominick and Daphnie White. Which has been a great pleasure in her life. She is survived by one living sister, Barbara Jean Kirkland, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Peggy will be missed for many reasons. Her infectious, warm, and friendly smile could light up any room. Most of all she was the matriarch of the family with her love of helping others and being a part of her grandchildren’s lives.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24 at 3pm. Service will be held at Brookside Funeral Home at 3410 FM 1960. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your cancer charity of choice.
