Paul Martinez Perez was born on July 17, 1929 to his parents, Regino Perez and Maria Martinez Perez in Houston, Texas (a native Houstonian) passed away on December 31, 2015 at the age of 86. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Leonora Cantu Perez (1984) and son-in-law, Lawrence D. Henn (2007). Paul was also the last of his siblings who preceded him in death: brothers, Regino (Ray) Perez and Jacinto Perez; sisters, Margarita Perez Astorga and Sarah Perez Martinez. He is survived by his five daughters (spouses): Lydia Henn; Annie Quiroz (Robert); Esther Rocha (Salvador); Ruth Serrano (Jose) and Pauline Romero. Grandchildren (spouses): Leigha Henn Garcia (Frank); Lawrence D. Henn; Sophia Serrano Elizondo (Sonny); Samantha Rocha Jasso (Chris); Selena Rocha; Ramsey Romero and Roman Romero and seven great grand-children. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Our Dad was a Korean era, U.S. Army Veteran and served his time in the military. He loved watching the military movies and loved talking about his time in the service and the West Coast. Dad worked at the Gibraltar Fence Company here in Houston for 50 years until his retirement. He always stayed in shape and never over-indulged in food and was a good dresser. He was a hard working individual with solid work ethics which set a precedent for us. Our parents taught us the importance of having a good education, to be successful, independent women and to be achievers of many things in finding our own paths in life. We thank our parents for the examples in life they showed us and for the nurturing they gave to each one of us. One of the places he loved to vacation was in Hawaii. He loved music, dancing and watching Houston Sports. He always said his favorite time of the year was summer because he enjoyed seeing the lovely ladies out in their short shorts. One thing for sure, we will miss our Dad being our very own weatherman. If it was going to rain, he’d call each one of us to make sure we were prepared and careful on the road or if there was a cold front coming, make sure you turn on the heat…if we needed to know the weather, we’d just call our Dad. We will miss you Dad, but every time we look to the sky, we’ll think of you and watch for your weather warnings. Rest in peace.
