Patricia L Smith

Patricia Lorene “Pat” Smith was born on May 25, 1923 in Rockford, Alabama to Jerry Spivey and Cora Hanna Spivey. Patricia married the love of her life, Johnny C. Smith on April 6, 1946, in Houston, Texas. Patricia passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas at the age of 93.

Patricia served the Lord all of her life. She was an amazing and loving mother who was very proud of her son. Her sense of humor was known to all. There were no strangers in her life, only friends or soon to be friends. Patricia loved to travel and made sure that her son would be a traveler as well. Always stopping to point out “Look what God has made.” “Isn’t that amazing?” Patricia was a devoted member of Grace Community Church in West Houston and previously Spring Branch Community Church of Houston. She loved arts & crafts, sewing, Texas A&M University and caring for her son.

Patricia is survived by her son Jeffery Smith of Houston, her brother Richard Spivey of Port Orchard, Washington and her sister Jackie Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny C. Smith, her parents, her brothers Julius Spivey, Alvin Spivey, Leonard Spivey and sisters Bertha Mason, Bernice Crews, Louise Tinklin, Marjorie Savage and Pauline Howard.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, Texas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Rick Minett. Burial will follow the service with military honors. Patricia was a World War II veteran serving her country in the United States Navy. Memorials made be made to the American Cancer Society, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation or The 1894 Grand Opera House in Galveston.
