Patricia Ann Maxwell (Pat) age 93 passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023. Pat was born March 24, 1930 in Houston and graduated from Reagan High School where she played the drums in the Reagan Redcoat drum and bugle corp. Later she graduated from Memorial Hospital Lilly Jolly School of Nursing as a registered nurse.
Pat was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer where she met her husband, Robert Maxwell, Jr. and were married for 67 years. In church, she loved to sing in the choir, was director of the children’s choir and later served as president of the congregation.
In 1952, Pat joined Bobby to live in England near Schulthorpe RAFB.s While in England, Pat gave birth to their first son, Robert Earl Maxwell. Many fond memories and lifelong friends grew out of the Air Force experience.
Upon returning to Houston, they added to their family a daughter, Patricia Ellen Maxwell and a son, Arthur Gregory Maxwell. She was a loving mother and a “nurse” to the neighborhood and friends. Through the years, she worked as a nurse in the hospital, various doctor’s offices and even in her husband’s printing business.
One of her greatest joys was reading Mad magazine and Dr. Suess to her children. She loved cleaning her house with the soundtrack of the Sound of Music or Mary Poppins playing in the background. She loved playing games with the family, doing puzzles and reading a good book.
Pat is survived by her children, Earl and Anita Maxwell, John and Ellen Poxon and Greg and Brenda Maxwell and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Pat Maxwell.
