Olivia Deborah Roberts, 61, passed away on March 8th, 2024 at her home in Houston, Texas. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed. She was born December 19th, 1962 in Houston, Texas to Rufus and Rosie (Revader) Clarence. She had seven siblings: five sisters and three brothers. Olivia was baptized as an adolescent at The New Hope Church in Houston. She would frequently spend summers with her relatives in Louisiana.
Olivia graduated from Barbara Jordan High School in 1981. Shortly after, she married Willie Joe Roberts; they had two wonderful children, Derrick (1982) and Dominique (1987). Olivia enjoyed spending time with her all of her family. Affectionately known as “Auntie” by her nieces and nephews, her house was like a central hub for great conversation and food; no one left hungry or without feeling better than they did when they arrived. Her presence illuminated every room she entered, and her warm smile brought comfort to all who knew her.
Olivia believed strongly in continuing education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2007 at the University of Phoenix and earned her Human Resources Certification in 2021. Olivia Roberts worked at St. Luke’s for 21 years, became the owner of Kreative Designs from 2009-2012, and later worked at Renal Specialists from 2012-2022. Throughout her career, she was known for her hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.
Olivia was a devoted mother. She loved spending time with her children and grandcats Harvey and Franklin. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends but was no stranger to hitting the road on her own. Olivia participated in charitable events, such as volunteering for the Houston Area Food Bank and Meals on Wheels during the Thanksgiving holiday. She was an avid New Orleans Saints fan, “Who Dat!”
But more than anything, Olivia was a strong woman of God and faithful servant. She served as a greeter at her church, Fellowship Church of Texas and often facilitated her Adult Bible Study classes.
Olivia is survived by her children, Derrick Roberts, and Dominique Roberts; sisters: Diann Washington (John-deceased), Joyce Session (Mitchell Sr.), Rebecca Johnson (James - deceased), Brenda Clarence; brothers: Ricky Clarence (Evelyn), and Alton Clarence well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Rosie Clarence, her sister Patricia Fletcher, and her brother Herman Lewis Clarence.
