Norman Earl Williamson, age 88, died peacefully on April 3, 2019 in The Woodlands, TX. Norman known also as “Bill” is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years: Rudene Smith; son: Randy Williamson; siblings: Doretha Williamson, Bill “WC” Williamson, Fred Williamson. Left to cherish his memory, children: Bruce Williamson & wife Susan, Sherri Carver & husband Solon, Jannet Falber & husband Dwayne; daughter in law: Barbara Williamson; siblings: Betty Ann Singleton, Sharon Lukasik, and Peggy Ann McCaleb; grandchildren: Sheila Watkins, Jason Williamson, Nicholas Williamson, Brooke Williamson, Leanne Williamson, Stefanie Rugaard, Kayla Williamson, Karrigan Falber, and Ty Falber; great grandchildren: Skylar Amann, Bristol Amann, Travis Rugaard, Nolan Williamson, Madalynn Rugaard, Savannah Rugaard, and Landen Williamson; step-mother: Jolene Cooke.
Norman was born January 9, 1931 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to parents Lillian and Elmer “Cliff” Williamson. He completed the 10th grade in Bethany, Oklahoma. As a teen, he worked at the Coronado Movie Theater where he ran film. In 1948, he joined and served for four years in the United States Marine Corp. He met the love of his life, Rudene Smith, when he was stationed at the El Toro Marine Base in Santa Ann, California in 1951. They were soon married in Las Vegas and moved to Texas where they started their family and had four children. Norman accepted a position at Halliburton where he worked 7 years before leaving to finish out his career at HISD for more than 40 years. He was a proud U.S. Marine who was very dedicated to the country he fought to defend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing at the marina on Lake Somerville, playing BINGO, and telling jokes… even when they were inappropriate. Norman was a great family man and a loving father, granddad, and great granddad that will live on in our hearts and fond memories.
Visitation for family and friends will begin on Saturday, April 6th from 5pm to 8pm at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Fwy. Houston, TX 77039. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 9th at 11am in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, TX.
