She was the oldest of 4 children born to Vertus and Beatrice Coffman. She was born in Howard, Kansas on February 18, 1924. She moved to Houston after she finished High School in Kansas. While working at Anderson Clayton Cotton Company, she met and married Robert Hill. They married on June 3, 1945 at Epworth Methodist Church. Robert and Norita spent their life living in the East End of Houston where they raised their family. They had three children: Connie Andrews and husband Gary, Ronney Hill, Donnie Hill and wife Carolyn. They also helped raise 4 nephews and a niece: Jim, DeLora and Arron Morris and Fergus and Tommy Reynolds.
Robert predeceased Norita on August 7, 1981.
Norita lead an active life. She always liked to “stay busy.” She was a homemaker and active in her children’s school and church activities. She went to Beauty School and became a hairdresser. She worked out of a shop attached to the garage.
Norita liked to socialize. She was in the Women’s Circle at Epworth Methodist Church. Norita
loved to play dominoes. She liked to cook. She always loved large family gatherings with everyone sitting around the table for a meal. Norita liked to camp and to travel. But the thing everyone remembers about Norita is her willingness to help those around her. She always wanted to make someone’s life better. Throughout her life, Norita made and was loved by many friends.
However there was nothing more important to Norita than her family. She loved being a part of everyone’s life. In addition to her children, Norita had 5 grandchildren: Alan Hill, Lisa Hill Hoffpauir, Ronney Hill Jr. Robert Hill and Jennifer Andrews Charles. Norita was also blessed with 6 great grandchildren: Connor, Collin and Ella Hill, Evan and William Hoffpauir and Shiloh Charles. She is survived by 13 nieces and nephews. Norita will be greatly missed by all of her family.
Norita is now with those who have gone before her with a set of dominoes in her hand.
The last years of her life, Norita struggled with dementia. The family would like to thank Norita’s doctor, Manessh Patel, MD and the staff at Park Manor of Southbelt who took good care of her through that struggle. The family thanks Pastor Rodwell Thom from Peace Ev. Lutheran Church for officiating at the graveside service.
