Part of Nolan’s service in the U.S. Army took him to Hawaii and Saipan during World War II. Most of his working life was at FMC Technologies in Houston where he retired after 28 years.
In the 1960’s, Nolan became a Mason. He served as Worshipful Master at Melrose Lodge #1294 and Lindale Lodge #848 in Houston and Northwest Lodge #1434 in Spring. During the years, he held other positions within this organization.
For the past 19 years, Nolan has been a member of Airline Baptist Church.
The surviving family includes his sister, Mary Joyce McClanahan, from Houston. Daughters are Shirley Griffis and husband, Bill, from Houston; Karen Durocher and husband, David, from Spring. Step-children include Beverly Reed & husband, Lonnie; Larry McNease and wife, Maria; Billy McNease, and wife, Nancy; Carolyn Beaty from Spring and Janice’ Ray from Bauxite, Arkansas. Also, former wife and friend, Iva Jacobs. He had many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grand children.
Nolan died on April 30, 2013 in The Woodlands, Texas in the Houston area.
