Ngoc-Ly was born to parents Con The Nguyen and Ngoc-Van Ho on August 10, 1940 in Saigon, Vietnam. She married Quyen Vo-Pham in 1966. They enjoyed a good life in Vietnam and welcomed one daughter and then another into their family. Due to her love of teaching, Ngoc-Ly started an elementary school for children and it flourished under her care. Uprooted by the Vietnam War, the family migrated to the United States in 1975, first living in Austin and then eventually settling in Houston, Texas. As they struggled to build a new life in a foreign land, they always made sure their children had everything they needed. Ngoc-Ly worked as a lab technician for the better part of her later years. She prided herself on doing everything to the best of her abilities and going beyond what was expected of her. Ngoc-Ly enjoyed drawing, spending time with her family, and making everyone laugh. She always placed the needs of those around her above her own. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother to her family. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.
Ngoc-Ly is survived by her husband Quyen; her daughter Ngoc-Quyen Le (and Charles Baron); her daughter Thao Ngoc (and Scott Byers); and her grandchildren Sonny Le, Alex Ha-Vo, and Alain Ha-Vo.
A viewing and reception will be held for family and friends on Friday February 23, 2018 between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00 p.m., at the Garden Oaks Funeral Home, 13430 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77083.
