Mrs. Myo Yon Suh (홍묘련,) age 80, of Houston, Texas entered peace and rest May 9th, 2018. She was born July 27th, 1937 in JinJu, South Korea. Myo Yon is survived by 3 siblings, five children, their spouses and grandchildren. Her children are Stephen Suh, Benny Suh, Nick Suh, Young Suh and Gina Ahn; daughters-in-laws Joyce Suh, Jessica Suh, and Yunni Suh; son-in-law Gabe Ahn; grandsons Jinwoo Suh, Nathan Suh, Samuel Suh, Christian Suh, Nicholas Suh, Matthew Suh, and Luke Suh; granddaughters Inna Suh, Claire Suh, Bless Suh, Chloe Ahn, and Clara Ahn.
Myo Yon was incredibly dedicated mother to 5 loving children and worked tirelessly to support the family. With her husband, Sun On Suh, the family immigrated to Texas in 1981 and spread roots in Pasadena, a suburb of Houston. She worked hard through multiple jobs and with strong entrepreneurship and dedication, the family prospered with many retail stores.
After her husband’s unexpected passing due to a heart attack on January 7, 1994, she bravely led and provided for the family through many hardships. She worked even harder, sacrificing both body and mind to ensure security for her children. She had a strong foundation in her faith and seeded that love of Christ into her family. She was strong, loved unconditionally and was generous to everyone around her. Despite all the adversities and trials, she never complained and always looked out for her family first. She never took any vacations and just worked to exhaustion so that her children can enjoy life and financial security.
All the exhaustive work has put heavy burden and toll on her body which suffered through kidney failure, broken hip, congestive heart failure, and numerous surgeries but her fighting spirit kept her going although severely limiting her mobility for many years. However, she was stricken with cancer at last but she departed peacefully with all her family by her bedside singing her favorite hymns until her last breath.
We will miss her terribly, but we know she is now pain free and resting in peace with our father in Heaven.
The family will receive friends for viewing service at 5:00 P.M., Friday, May 11, 2018 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
