Isaiah 53:5 King James Version “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Emma Rose Johnson-Martin was born in Bastrop, Louisiana on June 22, 1941 to Fannie Mae Johnson. Emma was the middle child and was brought up with Christian Roots. Emma accepted Christ as her Personal Saviour and Lord at an earlier age. Later she was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Bastrop, Louisiana. Emma finished her general education at 16 years old from Morehouse in Bastrop, Louisiana in 1958. Upon completion she attended Business School in Monroe, Louisiana. She excelled in short-hand, typing, 10 key by touch, and other office skills, which propelled her career. Emma was the loving mother of two boys, Dwight (Mustafa) and Dwane. Emma, her husband and sons moved to Houston, TX in 1965 looking for better opportunities. During those years, she had several jobs before landing her dream job at Missouri Pacific Railroad. She took a leave of absence after 15 years to become a business owner. Cooking was her passion and she opened ‘Martin’s Cafeteria’. This Cafeteria became a pillar of the local community. In 1979, Emma went back to work at Missouri Pacific Railroad where she later retired. As an avid community builder, she was always actively involved with her children. She served on the board at the YMCA Northeast, Kashmere High School Stage Band Mother and an Active Member of Various Churches. Later, she became known for playing her tambourine and Praising God. Emma Rose Johnson-Martin was preceded in death by her mother, Fannie Mae Johnson; one brother, Robert Lee Jones Jr; two sisters Alice Jean Rose and Roslyn Elaine Briggs. Emma transitioned on August 1, 2017 with her son by her side. She leaves in the care of God two sons Mustafa Abdur Rahmaan and a loving daughter in law Sandira Amin; along with Deacon Dwane Martin from St Paul, MN. One Brother Rev. Floyd D. Johnson (Marguerite); one brother in law A.D. Rose; one neice Erica Kizzie (Andre); Mya (Great Niece); Zayah and Zayvion (Great, Great Niece and Nephew). She will be greatly missed by many cousins, relatives, countless close friends, and all who loved her.
