Carolyn Jean Simmons was born in Houston, Texas to Frank and Florence Darts on September 30, 1949. She graduated from Carver High School and later worked for Skychef Food Service for 37 years until her retirement in 2012. She attended Shiloh Church of God in Christ at an early age under the leadership of Artie McDuffie. When the church dissolved, she faithfully attended Riverwood Baptist Church until her death. Carolyn made her transition on January 18, 2017 peacefully in her sleep. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Florence Darts and siblings Alphonso Darts, Charles Darts, Frank Darts, Jr. and Clarence Darts. Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories: Mr. Henry Tyler; her son Patrick Simmons; one granddaughter Jasmine Simmons; one grandson Rashad Simmons; two sisters Beverly Smith and Diane Darts; three brothers Earl, Maurice and Melton Darts; very special godchildren Nikka Griddine and Amaya and Nicholas Galvez and Kristen Croomes. She also leaves a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, friends and family.
