Mr. Robert Charles Banks

Robert Charles Banks was born to Leroy and Malissie Banks in Armistead, Louisiana on November 25, 1936. He attended public schools in Coushatta and Lake Charles, Louisiana, before settling in Houston, Texas. Robert met Versie Lee Gilder in Houston, Texas. They were united in Holy Matrimony on August 15, 1960 at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. After 31 years of marriage, she preceded him in death in 1991. Robert continued to worship at Metropolitan CME. Robert had 50 years of service with the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers & Allied Workers. During his years of service, he served as International Vice-President and Business Manager of Local Union 116. After retirement, Robert continued roofing with his own small business, All Contractor’s Market. On March 19, 2017 he peacefully passed away at Garden Terrace at Houston. He leaves to cherish his memory: Four children: Irma Flentroy (Michael), Cedric Banks (Carolyn), Cassandra Maxwell (Gerald) and Kimberly Banks; five grandchildren: Dr. Eli Newsome, Ericka Newsome, Gerald C. Maxwell, Kailyn Maxwell, Cameron R. Maxwell; two brothers: Clyde Banks (Bertha) and Albert Banks; one sister: Willie Mae Clinton; In-laws: Geraldine Banks, Mildred Banks, Margie Banks, Willie and Maureen Williams, Lorainne McNack; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
