James Davis was born on March 9, 1931 to the late Lucy Harvey Davis and Charlie Davis Jr. in Powhatan of Natchitoches, Louisiana. James accepted Christ at an early age. James later moved to Houston, Texas where he met and married Jewel Rivers in 1965 and they gave birth to a bouncing baby girl named Charlotte Davis in 1967 while also being a stepfather to Vera Rivers and Kenneth Rivers. Years later, James met Lurline Sampson and her two wonderful sons Byrd Sampson and Billy Sampson and became a father to them as well. James leaves behind to mourn his daughter Charlotte Davis Chevalier (Stephon Chevalier), and her mother and siblings; Lurline Sampson and her sons Byrd Sampson (Desiree Sampson) and Billy Sampson; James’ brothers Rufus Davis (Diris Davis) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Roy Lee Davis, Willie Lee Davis (deceased) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
