Mildred Ann Harris was born on February 2nd 1935 to Zenobia and Melvin Bains Sr. In Gould Arkansas . Mildred relocated with her family to Oakland California where she met and would later marry Joseph Harris of Houston, Texas.
Through Joseph’s service in the Air Force, they would live in California, and Colorado before finally settling in Houston. Mildred was known for her love of dance and music, an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking. Her devotion to her family and faith in God was paramount.
Friends and family over the years remember her sweet nature, contagious laugh and quick wit.
Mildred sadly passed after a brief but brave battle with cancer on June 23rd 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Melvin jr. (Sonny) and James (Jimmy), sister Juanita and daughter Kelly Elizabeth.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband Joe, daughters Maria, Julia, Ivy and Minda. Her sons Jeff and Ira and a host of grand children and great grandchildren who she loved deeply.
Mildred was known by many and loved by all, her lessons taught and examples she has set forth will never be forgotten.
